Animal Control Officer

The Bensalem Township Police Department currently employs one full time Animal Control Officer (A.C.O.) The A.C.O is responsible for capturing stray animals within the township and disposing of same; recovering dead carcasses found within the township and disposing of same; investigating complaints of stray or abused animals and handles according to procedure; caring for stray and found animals until disposition; completing necessary police administrative reports. The A.C.O is also responsible for enforcing the PA State Dog Law, Bensalem Township Ordinances and responding to calls regarding animal complaints and pets. The A.C.O is also available to assist residents with various nuisance wildlife issues and act as a liaison between the township residents and the PA State Game Commission and the PA State Fish and Boat Commission, the Bucks County SPCA, Pennsylvania Bureau of “Dog Law”, and Bucks County Health Department.
